St Andrew’s is the Roman Catholic Primary School serving the Bearsden area. It caters for boys and girls from Primary 1 to Primary 7. The present school roll is 297 and the maximum roll is 450.

Parents should note that the working capacity of the school may vary dependent upon the number of pupils at each stage and the way in which the classes are organised. The maximum number of places available at Primary 1 is 50, Primary 2 and Primary 3 are 60 per stage. At all other stages 66 children can be accommodated. Where the need arises to form composite classes, the school will follow authority guidelines. East Dunbartonshire Council's Composite Class Guidelines booklet can be found at the bottom of this page.

Clothing Grants

Parents receiving Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Rebates, will normally be entitled to monetary grants for footwear and clothing for their children. Parents who are in receipt of Working Tax Credit and/or Child Tax Credit may be eligible. The Area Registration Office or the Education Office can provide more details. Approval of any requests for such grants made by parents in different circumstances is at the discretion of The Director-Community Services. Information and application forms may be obtained from schools, the Education Offices and The Area Registration Service Offices.

School Meals

Children of parents receiving Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance are entitled to a free midday meal. Children of parents who are in receipt of Child Tax Credit may also be eligible. Information and application forms for Free Meals may be obtained from schools, The Education Offices and Area Registration Services Offices or www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk.

Only those children whose parents are receiving Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (and Child Tax Credit where qualifying income criteria has been met) will be entitled to free milk. Milk may, however, be available for purchase in the school during the lunch period.

The school meals service operates a cafeteria system, with parents being informed in advance of menu details. All monies are collected on a daily basis at the cash points. Children are required to carry money safely each day.

If your child has any special dietary needs, please make these known to the school as soon as possible so that arrangements may be made by catering staff.

Space is provided in the dining hall for children who bring packed lunches.  Given the fact that we have several children who are allergic to peanuts, parents co-operation in providing a nut-free environment in the school is greatly appreciated. No glass flasks, bottles or cans are allowed in the dining room which is also the school gymnasium. If you child carries a packed lunch, please ensure that school books are well protected.
